Video editing and production

Most business video is watched on a phone, at speed, with the sound off. Editing for that reality — captions burned in, the point made in the first few seconds, the right aspect ratio for the platform — matters more than any effect.

Video editing

Edited for the platform, not just exported once

The same footage needs to be a different video on each platform. A vertical cut for stories and short-form feeds, a square or landscape cut for a timeline, a longer version for a website page where somebody has actively chosen to watch. Exporting one landscape file and posting it everywhere wastes most of the footage you paid for.

Captions are not optional either. A large share of social video is watched muted, and burned-in captions consistently hold attention longer. We caption as standard, check the wording rather than trusting automatic transcription, and make sure the text sits clear of each platform's interface.

Why it matters

What's included

What video editing covers

Editing and assembly

Your footage cut into a clear sequence with pacing that holds attention, and the point established in the opening seconds.

Captions and subtitles

Burned-in captions for silent viewing, checked by hand rather than left to automatic transcription, and positioned clear of platform overlays.

Titles, graphics and branding

Lower thirds, titles and end cards using your own colours and typefaces, so video sits alongside the rest of your material.

Colour and audio clean-up

Consistent colour across clips shot at different times, plus levelled audio and background noise reduction — usually the biggest quality gain available.

Platform versions

Vertical, square and landscape cuts from the same edit, each at the right length and dimensions for where it is going.

Thumbnails and delivery

Designed thumbnails, sensible file naming and compressed web versions, delivered ready to upload rather than as one enormous export.

How it runs

Four stages, agreed as we go

  1. Brief and footage review

We agree what the video is for and where it will be posted, then review what you have and tell you honestly if anything is missing.

  2. First cut

You see a rough edit with the structure and pacing in place before time is spent on graphics and colour, so changes are cheap.

  3. Refinement

Notes are worked through across the agreed revision rounds, then captions, graphics, colour and audio are finished.

  4. Delivery

Final versions exported for each platform, with thumbnails and a caption file, ready to post.

Questions

Video Editing: common questions

Do you film, or only edit?

Editing is the core service and works with footage you already have, including material shot on a phone. If a project needs filming we will say so and quote it separately rather than stretching an editing budget to cover it.

What if my footage is shot on a phone?

That is completely normal and often perfectly good. Phone footage shot in reasonable light with clean audio edits well. We will tell you before starting if the material genuinely will not carry the finished piece.

Can you add music?

Yes, from properly licensed libraries. Any licence cost is agreed with you and paid in your name beforehand — we never drop unlicensed music onto a business video, because the takedown lands on you, not on us.

How many rounds of changes are included?

The number of revision rounds is agreed in writing before the edit starts. Structural changes are cheapest at the first-cut stage, which is exactly why you see a rough edit before anything is polished.
